CBR250RR SP Track Day: Small Bike, Serious Lap Times

A stock CBR250RR SP, one Sentul afternoon, and a stopwatch. Quarter-litre sportbikes have grown up.

The SP trim earns its badge on track: the quickshifter is flawless on upshifts and the Showa fork holds a line through Sentul’s fast right-handers that shames some 600s of a decade ago.

It remains a commuter you could live with on weekdays — which is exactly the trick this class is supposed to pull off.

Verdict

What we like

  • Flawless up-quickshifter
  • Showa fork holds a committed line
  • Still liveable as a weekday commuter

What we don't

  • Premium price for the class
  • Pillion comfort is token
